As super fan Becca followed the FLYING ACES twitter feed from Estes Park, Colorado, a capacity crowd filled their newly refurbished Flemington Ice Arena back in Jersey for conference semifinals action. Bernie Brick, wearing his bad guy black FLYING ACES away sweater, stood proudly atop his section and watched the ACES complex warmup drill. Audra Lovering looked on behind the glass of her front row perch. KACE (Katy and ACE) visited the home team bench spreading cheer and support. The cute little pup had puck in mouth ready to watch some hockey.
It was the MULLIGANS that knocked the ACES out of the playoffs in the first round last season. But the FLYING ACES owned the SHAM-MULLIGANS this season winning all three match ups and outscoring them 18-6. And that ACE superiority continued last night. From Kyle 'Turbo' Turner's two goals powered by 'Machete' Gianetti and Derek 'Dream' Weaver to Kevin 'From the Heavens' Smith's empty netter. And from the great home crowd cheering "Nick the Brick, Nick the Brick" as Minarik worked for a post season shutout to Nick himself, focused and fine tuned, the ACES turned a gritty MULLIGAN defensive performance into a 4-0 loss.
