The ACES took an early lead when Darren 'Rolling
Stones' Jones, who boldly predicted the win, sent a pass back to Ryan Bleck at
the blue line. Bleck wound up and fired a slapper top shelf, stick side on the
Bombers goalie. Moments later Josh 'Oh My Gosh' Lovering took a Mike Gianetti
pass and deposited his first of the night for a 2-0 lead. The BOMBERS were
quick to respond though. They started with the classic Bill Auld 'Cherry
Pickers' special break away goal in the closing moments of the first period.
They added another midway through the 2nd to knot it up 2-2. But Kyle 'Turbo'
Turner answered back shortly there after when he grabbed a cross ice pass from
Gianetti and scored a dazzingly sick goal. And that was the beginning of the
Ace-alanche. Turner put in two more to complete the 'trick', Lovering scored
his second of the night, and Kevin 'From the Heavens' Smith joined the fun with
a goal of his own. Nick 'The Brick' Minarik, back in top form, let only one
more pass, and his FLYING ACES took the A.S. Cup in a 7-3 win. "It was
great to get back on the ice after an injury," said Turner who took First
Star honors for his hat trick and one assist performance. "My teammates
were the real stars tonight, they got me the puck into open space so that I
could get some chances. All in all it was a great team win tonight,"
continued Turbo. Mike Petersen had 2 assists. Daren Jones added another. Craig
Jones and Bubba McCabe both had assists. Craig was on the ACE CASE. And though
he had no points in Thursdays contest, Steve Leoszewski, was said to have
played with heart.
THE FLYING ACES hit the road Wednesday night for
a lovely 10:30 puck drop with the MULLIGANS. Due to the very convenient time
slot and excitement of the match up, this game is sold out.
