ACES START SEASON 8 WITH 9

The FLYING ACES opened their eighth season with a dog fight for the AS Cup Monday night at the arena formerly known as Aspen Ice. The ACES looked to reclaim the 'Cup' from the BOMBERS, who defeated them in their last four contests.
Forward, Bill Marcolini, started the season on IR with an upper body injury and defenseman, Ryan Bleck, was a game time decision with a lower body injury. Craig Jones, Scott Preston and Ryan Warn were healthy scratches.
The ACES came for the AS Cup with a powerful 9 goal offensive display that brought their franchise record back to .500 (46-46-5). The BOMBERS did light the lamp 5 times in the battle.
Josh Lovering took first star honors with his 3 goal performance. Kyle Turner had 2 goals and 3 assists. Mike Petersen had 2 goals and an assist. Steve Leoszewski had a goal and 2 assists. Kevin Smith had a goal and an assist. Darren Jones and Mike Gianetti had 3 assists each. Ryan Bleck, Eric Kusznier and Derek Weaver all had assists. 
The ACE win puts the AS Cup tally at FLYING ACES-6 wins and BOMBERS-5. 
The ACES head out for a two game road trip that starts Sunday night with a brand new Federal C team. The FLYING DUTCHMEN.
