Petersen's Particularly Passionate Patch Performance Powers 'Pilots' Past Pesky Primates (Previously Predators). Plus Tremendously Talented Teammate, 'Turbo' Turner, Tallies Two in the Terrific Triumph.

Thursday night was not only Halloween's eve, it was also time for the AIAHL's game of the week. This weeks match up pitted the MELICK FLYING ACES of FLEMINGTON against the newly named (same old jersey) PRIMATES. A team the FLYING ACES had never defeated in regular season play. The contest took place at the PRIMATES brand new arena known to their fans as 'The Ape'. Ace grind-liner Bill Marcolini was a healthy scratch for the game.
On the ice, the Aces attacked early and often. The Primates net minder did all he could to keep his team in the game. But that high powered 'Shock and Awe' line was just to much. Mike Petersen lead the charge and took First Star honors with his 2 goal 2 assist performance. Line mate Kyle Turner also scored twice with 2 assists (he was up for First Star consideration too) and Kevin Smith had a goal and an assist. The 'Black Powder' line also contributed. Team Captain, Darren Jones, had a goal while 'Juvy' Lou Johnson and Josh Lovering had assists. Defenseman Ryan Bleck had 2 assists of his own. In the third, after a powerplay goal, the PRIMATES began to climb back into the game. Down 5-3, they pulled their goalie and quickly scored to bring the game within one. But in the closing minutes of play, the Aces managed to get the puck away from the extra attacker and score the empty netter to seal the deal at 6-4.
The victory gives the Flying Aces 13 points. this puts them in sole possession of first place in the Federal C League by a single point. In second place with 12 points, hated rival, Whack-a-Mole. With only 3 games left in the regular season, the Aces hit the road tomorrow night(Tuesday, November 4) to face those very Moles at the Whack-a-Dome. Tickets are still available for that contest.
